Pasadena Showcase House of Design
Blending English Charm with California Living
The 60th Pasadena Showcase House of Design unfolded in splendid fashion this spring at the storied Bauer Estate & Gardens, a monumental 1928 Monterey Colonial mansion nestled on five acres of historic gardens in Pasadena, Los Angeles, USA.
The event brought together more than 30 interior and landscape designers who transformed the 15,000-square-foot residence and expansive grounds into a vibrant celebration of contemporary creativity, all while honouring the estate’s architectural legacy.

The Garden Studio, imagined by Beatriz Rose Design, brought an unexpected English sensibility to Southern California. Inspired by the illustrations and countryside charm of Beatrix Potter, the space became an idyllic garden room, romantic and rooted in craft.

A once dated interior was reimagined as a cottage-like retreat where antiques, restored cabinetry, and natural textures combined to create the grace of an English heritage interior within a Californian estate.

We were delighted to contribute to Beatriz Rose’s vision for the Garden Studio with lighting that supported both its function and character. The Cobb Rise & Fall pendant provided flexible overhead illumination, perfectly suited to a studio where tasks and moods shift throughout the day.

The Blossom portable light echoed this adaptability, a gentle and organic accent that could move easily around the room. Completing the scheme, the Alma wall light offered both functional glow and a touch of charm, its hand-painted coral finish adding a crafted pop of colour against the studio’s natural tones.

Together, these pieces created layers of light that deepened the sense of warmth, craft, and quiet creativity at the heart of the design.
