Who We Are

Original BTC was founded in 1990 by Peter Bowles, with early designs like the Hector Dome Table Light setting the tone for our future collections. To this day, we remain an independent, family-run company, with Peter’s son Charlie and daughter Hettie taking on leadership roles. Pictured here are Peter, alongside Hettie (Director of Operations) and Charlie (Director).

In 2011, we welcomed traditional lighting producer Davey Lighting into the Original BTC family, investing in its heritage and skilled craftspeople to preserve its legacy.

Over the decades, we have grown into an international brand, with teams and showrooms in France, United States, Germany, and Taiwan. While our outlook is global, our roots remain firmly in Oxfordshire.

CRAFTSMANSHIP

Our lighting is a celebration of materials, craftsmanship, and time-honoured techniques. We operate a bone china pottery in Stoke-on-Trent, alongside metal and glass workshops at our headquarters in Oxfordshire. Every piece is meticulously handcrafted by our skilled artisans, ensuring the highest standards of quality and a distinct character in every light.

Built to last, our lighting is designed with longevity in mind. We offer spare parts to extend the life of our products, reinforcing our commitment to craftsmanship, sustainability, and enduring design.
