Cleat Wall Light

About
With a sculptural form inspired by sailing cleats, the Cleat wall light pairs industrial precision with subtle nautical references. Its cast bronze body houses a dimmable LED light source, producing a soft, halo-like glow on a low setting and bright, functional light when turned up fully. Thanks to its IP44-rating, Cleat is an elegant choice for bathrooms, adding depth and character to walls even when unlit.
The gentle diffusion creates a calm, ambient atmosphere, highlighting the interplay between material, form and light.

Manufacturing
We use centuries-old techniques to create truly authentic, unprocessed lighting designs; some of which originate from East India Docks (London) in the 1880s where Davey Lighting was established. The process of sandcasting begins by preparing a mould; a sand mixture is packed around a ‘pattern’ and tamped down, binding the mixture together.
The pattern is subsequently removed, and molten metal is poured into the mould cavity. Once cool, the metal item is separated from the sand mixture. These castings are then machined, drilled, sanded and finished by sandblasting, weathering or polishing. Sustainability
Made in a highly specialised English foundry, the Cleat’s distinctive form is achieved through the intricate process of investment casting. A wax model is created in a multi-part aluminium die, then encased in a ceramic shell. Once the wax is melted away, molten bronze is poured into the cavity, capturing every detail.
This advanced casting method – often used in both sculpture and aerospace – allows for the Cleat’s fluid yet well-defined shape. Assembled in our Witney factory, two refined binder screws secure the hand-cut glass diffuser in place.
