About

The Mast Light traces back to early 20th-century marine lighting, when it was first designed to sit high on sailing masts and cast light across the deck below. Small in scale but full of presence, it combines crisp geometry with the softness of sand-cast metal, casting light downwards to create a generous wash of illumination across the wall.

The result is a fitting for indoor and outdoor spaces that feels both purposeful and decorative, with an elegance shaped by utility. The LED version is designed for easy connection to a mains voltage circuit without the need for a transformer. Installation requires a recess or void behind the fitting to accommodate the electrical connection; where this is not possible, such as on a masonry wall, a version with matching back box is recommended to provide a practical housing for the connection. The supplied LED lamp draws just 4.6W for energy-efficient illumination and has a rated lifespan of up to 25,000 hours. Also available as a low voltage fitting and in versions with back box.

About

Manufacturing

The Mast Light is made using traditional sand-casting techniques that give the piece its distinctive solidity and character. First developed for use on sailing masts in the early 20th century, it is still cast in solid metal using time-honoured methods. Our aluminium alloys contain a minimum of 90% recycled aluminium, while our bronze reaches 99.8%

recycled metal. Each casting begins with a mould formed by packing a sand mixture around a pattern. Once the pattern is removed, molten metal is poured into the cavity and left to cool before the raw casting is released. From there, every piece is machined, drilled and refined by hand, then assembled and finished in our Oxfordshire factory.
