About
Originally a mast-mounted light fitting for illuminating yacht decks. Its clean profile provides a stylish detail for both interior, exterior and bathroom accent lighting. This version of the Mast Light includes a matching back box for added versatility. While the original design requires a recess or void behind the fitting, this thoughtful iteration offers a practical solution for solid surfaces like masonry walls.
The back box provides an elegant and functional housing for the connection, ensuring seamless installation without compromising the design’s timeless appeal.
Manufacturing
We use centuries-old techniques to create truly authentic, unprocessed lighting designs; some of which originate from East India Docks (London) in the 1880s where Davey Lighting was established. The process of sandcasting begins by preparing a mould; a sand mixture is packed around a ‘pattern’ and tamped down, binding the mixture together.
The pattern is subsequently removed, and molten metal is poured into the mould cavity. Once cool, the metal item is separated from the sand mixture. These castings are then machined, drilled, sanded and finished by sandblasting, weathering or polishing.
